Carl and his wife Carol have been attending Grace Community Church, or one of its predecessors (First Baptist and First Congregational), since they moved to Wasco in 1975. They first meet as students at Biola University. Carl has previously served on Elder Boards/Church Councils at all three of the above-mentioned churches and has taught Sunday School from primary grades through high school and adult. They have two grown children – Amanda and Daniel. Carl has been Superintendent of the Fruitvale School District in northwest Bakersfield for over 20 years. He earned his doctorate in education at USC and was a teacher and principal before his first superintendency at Maple School District.
